JOSE LOZANO received his Master of Fine Arts from California State University, Fullerton. His drawings and paintings have been exhibited widely at venues that include the Museum of 
Contemporary Art San Diego, UCLA Armand Hammer Museum, Orange County Museum of 
Contemporary Art.He has received many awards including a J. Paul Getty Mid-Career Grant in Painting and a California Arts Council Grant for Drawing and Painting.

RAOUL DE LA SOTA is Professor Emeritus in Mexican American History at Los Angeles City College. He has exhibited throughout the United States and Mexico and his artwork has been 
included in exhibitions at the Laguna Art Museum, Laguna Beach and the UCLA Armand 
Hammer Museum, Los Angeles. He is the first Chicano artist to be awarded a Fulbright 
Scholarship.

RICHARD VALDES Having been raised in East Los Angeles, Richard Valdes studied at the 
California Institute of the Arts, Chouinard Art School in Los Angeles. He graduated from the 
institute with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1971. Richard has participated in several exhibitions 
in Southern California. The pleasure Richard finds in his manipulation of paint displays itself in his varied brushstrokes and experimentation with texture and color. Richard explains, “My artwork is of 
beauty and love, and the love of life at the moment.”
